Spellbound at Watkins Glen

Spellbound at Watkins Glen

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world…

Watkins Glen State Park in New York… The website stated “Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound.” I was somewhat cynical, but had seen photos that had intrigued me, and after experiencing the gorge I realised that it was not just marketing hype.
The two mile gorge trail descended 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, and apparently19 waterfalls (I forgot to keep count). In the calm of the early morning it was indeed spellbinding. A wonderful balance of nature and man-made paths carved into a meandering gorge of layered shale. A most excellent way to share a beautiful morning.
